Leno: Obama’s ‘Encouraging More Americans to Give Up Looking for Work’ to Bring Down Unemployment

Obesity the Greatest Threat to National Security
?! Really?
At the link is a quick video of a promo for an upcoming Dr. Oz. We should get something out of the way early; Dr. Oz (IMHO) is a complete quack and why the FLOTUS would go on such a show is beyond me. It’s beneath her and the position she holds. But I guess that the internal polling must not be too good so out Michelle goes to throw herself at the afternoon television watching masses. a/k/a Democrat voters.
But I digress…
So Dr. Oz says something like, “I think the greatest threat to national security is obesity.” and Michelle responds, “‘Absolutely.”
?! Not Al Qaeda. Not radial Islam. Not any other terrorists e.g. eco-terrorists. Not global warming. Not her husband. Not Wikileaks. Not right-wing militia groups. Not crazy Libyans who killed Americans in Benghazi. Not the Muslim Brotherhood who attacked our sovereign soil in Epygt. No, none of these.
Donuts and french fries are our greatest threat to national security.
Axelrod better get out in front of this and start rolling it back.
My guess is that when the show airs that segment will be removed.

DNC Proudly Displays Russian Ships
On the last night of the Democratic National Convention, a retired Navy four-star took the stage to pay tribute to veterans. Behind him, on a giant screen, the image of four hulking warships reinforced his patriotic message.
But there was a big mistake in the stirring backdrop: those are Russian warships. …
These were the very Soviet-era combatants that Nathman and Cold Warriors like him had once squared off against. “The ships are definitely Russian,” said noted naval author Norman Polmar after reviewing hi-resolution photos from the event. “There’s no question of that in my mind.”
Naval experts concluded the background was a photo composite of Russian ships that were overflown by what appear to be U.S. trainer jets. It remains unclear how or why the Democratic Party used what’s believed to be images of the Russian Black Sea Fleet at their convention.

Vladimir Putin must have made a very nice campaign donation to Obama for America.

Poem on Congress
CONGRESS
Full of jack-assery;
Should be a glass menagerie
Of the most morally thoughtful minds,
But instead it’s a sty full of bleeding-heart blue hacks,
And red holy-rollers who probably grind
Hunks of yellow scale into white powder
…

Robber Armed with 2-by-4 on West Side (Rahm demands lumber registry)
A police alert warns Lawndale residents about a robber who threatens and beats his victims with a 2-by-4. …
The robber was described as a black man with a dark complexion, between 5-foot-9 and 5-foot-11, weighing 150 to 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored baseball hat and a dark top, police said.via chicagotribune.com.
Rahm immediately called for a lumber registry. “What we need are common sense lumber laws to make sure these sorts of crimes don’t happen again.” the Mayor said at an unrelated press conference. He followed-up saying, “No one is trying to ban lumber. That’s extremist language by the extremist National Lumber Association.”

The Media’s Unholy Relationship with Obama
On the evening of Tuesday, June 30, 2009—just five months into his administration—Barack Obama invited a small group of presidential historians to dine with him in the Family Quarters of the White House. His chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, personally delivered the invitations with a word of caution: the meeting was to remain private and off the record. As a result, the media missed the chance to report on an important event, for the evening with the historians provided a remarkable sneak preview of why the Obama presidency would shortly go off the rails. …
Over the two-hour dinner, Mr. Obama and the historians discussed several past presidents. It wasn’t clear from Mr. Obama’s responses which of those presidents he identified with. At one point, he seemed to channel the charismatic John F. Kennedy. At another moment, he extolled the virtues of the “transformative” Ronald Reagan. Then again, it was the saintly Lincoln…or the New Deal’s “Happy Warrior,” Franklin Roosevelt….
Mr. Obama told the historians that he had come up with a slogan for his administration. “I’m thinking of calling it ‘A New Foundation,’ ” he said.
Doris Kearns Goodwin suggested that “A New Foundation” might not be the wisest choice for a motto.
“Why not?” the president asked.
“It sounds,” said Goodwin, “like a woman’s girdle.”
via Fox News.
Absolutely amazing the collusion between these “historians” and a sitting President. How can they claim to be objective when they participate in such pandering? Why doesn’t the media point out the obvious problem with these sorts of meetings? …
That last one I can answer.
Journalism is printing what someone else does not want printed:
everything else is public relations.
― George OrwellThere continues to this unholy relationship between the media and Obama specifically and politicians generally. The media wants, no needs, access to the pols and the pols need access to the media. It’s a symbiotic relationship where each benefits the other.
The New York Times was just last week busted printing stories whereby national secrets where “leaked” from the White House. What we have is a major news organization dishing out exactly that the White House wanted printed. That’s not journalism; that’s public relations.
Thankfully the internet is killing the mainstream media faster than the plague raced across Europe. At least with citizen journalists the bias is out in the open. People can make up their own minds considering the source.

Self Defense Now a Federal Issue
House Democrats said Tuesday they will offer an amendment to push to overturn stand-your-ground self-defense laws in states like Florida.
The amendment, which would withhold some grants from states that have such laws, will come as part of the House’s debate on the Commerce Department spending bill.
“‘Shoot-first’ laws have already cost too many lives. In Florida alone, deaths due to self-defense have tripled since the law was enacted. Federal money shouldn’t be spent supporting states with laws that endanger their own people,” said Reps. Raul Grijalva of Arizona and Keith Ellison of Minnesota, the two Democrats who are offering the legislation. “This is no different than withholding transportation funds from states that don’t enforce seat-belt laws.”
Florida’s law, which allows residents to use force in response to an attack without first having to retreat, has come under scrutiny after the nationally-polarizing death of teenager Trayvon Martin. George Zimmermann, a neighborhood watch volunteer, has been charged with murder in the case.

Surely they jest! I guess Reps. Grijalva and Ellison would rather have dead victims.
I have some news for these guys, our right to self-defense comes from our creator — not from the government. If you think otherwise go put yourself between a mama bear and her cub.

I truly believe that what the poor people in our community need is not more handouts from the government — which only makes them more enslaved to the government — but real freedom. Dr. Paul is a huge supporter of freedom. This is good news.

How Big Should Government Be?
A government big enough to give you everything you want
is a government big enough to take from you everything you have.
— Gerald Ford, Joint Statement to Congress, August 12, 1974.I had not heard this before two days ago (yes, I don’t know where I’ve been either.) But it struck me.
We, as a people, are giving up more and more control over our daily lives to governments. This is frightening. It’s not about parties; both the GOP and the Dems are more than willing to take away your rights. The Left wants to control what you think and say and eat and buy (a/k/a consumer protection) while the Right wants to read your emails and observe you 24/7 from drones in the name of protecting you from some hitherto unknown spooky terrorist (a/k/a personal protection or national defense.)
Both sides make the person, the individual, a slave to the government:
- The Left would have the G provide you with housing, medical care, food, water, schooling, day care, or in other words everything you need for daily life. And when you misbehave… well then the G can take all that away.
- The Right would have the G provide you with constant protection from fear or the unknown, “Someone out there’s going to try to hurt you.” Whether it’s a black kid in a hoodie, a terrorist organization, or rouge nukes, you need to let us into your personal lives so that we can keep you safe.
Both sides have killed personal responsibility in their own way. We’re a nation of nit-wits waiting for the government to tell us that we’re going to be safe instead of protecting ourselves. We get the government we deserve.
