  • Chick-fil-A Wavies 1st Amendment Rights

Chick-fil-A has pledged to stop giving money to anti-gay groups and to back off political and social debates after an executive’s comments this summer landed the fast-food chain smack in the middle of the gay marriage debate.

The Civil Rights Agenda, which dubs itself the largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender advocacy group in Illinois, said Chick-fil-A agreed in meetings to stop donating to groups such as Focus on the Family and the National Organization for Marriage. Such groups oppose same-sex marriage.

    WT…?!  Why?

Everyone please note how the Left does not wish to openly discuss issues of public disagreement — No National Discourse will be held.

Opposing opinions will be silenced by any means necessary.

I fully support Chick-fil-A giving money to any political cause it likes.  I don’t have to eat there.

I fully support Progressive Ins. giving money to any leftest cause it likes.  I have have to buy Ins. from them.

Warren Buffet = Geico.  Don’t have to buy their ins. either.

Sheldon Adelson runs the Sands Casino group and gives a lot of money to Romney.  You don’t have to gamble at a Sands owned hotel.

    I could go on.

But badgering people over and over and over and over and over and over until the have to submit to political correctness does not server the public good.  The solution for bad speech is not no speech but MORE speech.

If you disagree with me, fine.  Be polite, state your case.

I disagree strongly with what you say,
but I will defend to the death your right to say it.
    –Voltaire –

This Civil Rights Agenda stands for anything but.  It’s evil.

  • Student Denied Entry to Michelle Obama’s Speech

A conservative student was denied entry into a rally featuring First Lady Michelle Obama at the University of Florida on Wednesday because he was wearing a t-shirt in support of Republican John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) 2007 campaign for the White House.  …

A conservative student was denied entry into a rally featuring Michelle Obama at the University of Florida because he was wearing a McCain t-shirt.

“I was waiting in line wearing a ‘Gators for McCain’ shirt when a guy [representing the Obama campaign] comes up to me to just intimidate me,” Pesek told Campus Reform. “[He then] asks me for my ticket saying… this is an event with only Obama supporters.”

    Hummm…

I guess Michelle was not too confident in her message being persuasive.  When you can’t change minds, just lock the door.

  • Pete’s Fresh Market — Update 09/19

Reliable sources inform me that Pete’s and people from the city are sitting down and trying to work out a deal to restart construction.

Reliable sources also have confirmed the facts of the original post.

If any readers have stories of problems with any politicians please contact me privately with that information.  We have been abused by our elected officials for far too long.  Criminal elected officials are the reason why the West Side does not have the retail and other amenities of other neighborhoods.

It’s immoral, unethical, and just plain sad that the poor, who needs the most help, are the most abused.

Rumors are swirling that a community meeting may be held one day next week.  Please visit again for further information.

UPDATE:  This topic updated 09/25/2012 here.

  • Treasury Won’t Sell Take a Loss on GM Shares

General Motors Co. executives want the Treasury Department to sell its almost 27 percent stake in the company because, they say, the feds are hurting their image and government pay restrictions are chasing away top talent.  …

Government officials weren’t interested in the deal.“At GM’s Friday share price of $24.14, the U.S. would lose about $15 billion on the GM bailout if it sold its entire stake,” the Journal notes. “While GM stock would need to reach $53 a share for the U.S. to break even, Treasury officials would consider selling at a price in the $30s.”

    via TheBlaze.com.

This is the Treasury department playing politics.  Treasury is supposed to be “above” politics.  It’s supposed to control the U.S.’s monetary policy such that our economy grows at a steady pace.

The question now is did Tim Geithner make this decision or did it come from Obama himself?

  • Leno: Obama’s ‘Encouraging More Americans to Give Up Looking for Work’ to Bring Down Unemployment

Talking about how the unemployment rate only fell last month because of the number of people that dropped out of the labor force, Leno quipped that the President is “encouraging more Americans to give up looking for work so the numbers will come down a little bit”

  • College Suspends Obama Pledge Professor

UPDATE:  Last week we heard about the college prof. who made her students pledge to vote for Obama.

A college professor has been placed on leave after she allegedly forced her class to sign a pledge to vote for President Obama in the upcoming elections.

    Justice?  Probably.

  • CTU Deal Will Lead to School Closings & Layoffs

Four years of up-to-the-limit property tax increases for Chicago homeowners and businesses. Closing scores of under-enrolled and underperforming schools. Thousands of layoffs of teachers and other school staff. More cuts to the central office.

That’s what could await the Chicago Public Schools, thanks to the tentative agreement between teachers and the district that is expected to put an end to the five-day teachers strike.

Civic Federation President Laurence Msall said the 16 percent pay raise included in the tentative agreement will almost certainly trigger massive layoffs and scores of school closings.

    via Chicago Sun-Times.

    Well Duh!

This comes as a surprise to no one.  What did CTU think was going to happen when you have a broke and bankrupt system giving 16% raises to it’s staff?  You balance the budget by having less staff.

This is just like the minimum wage discussion:  If the minimum wage was $25/hour there would be fewer people working… not more.  And the price of your hamburger and groceries would be 20-50% higher.

When you artificially increase wages in the private sector you get inflation.  When you artificially increase wages in the public sector you get a bankrupt public sector.
